Are you a writer who is afraid to pick up the pen and write your story? If you are, that's good news. Kleiss says, "Fear and excitement go hand in hand. When were you ever afraid to brush your teeth, or excited about it, either?"
Kleiss' class, "Writing on the Dark Side," helps writers explore their own lives for material by tapping into emotions of fear, anger, rage, and pain in order to put more feeling on the page. "That's scary stuff," Kleiss says. "That's why my course motto is: Think of something you wouldn't tell anyone, then put it on the page and tell everyone." Mining this emotional truth can allow writers to see themselves and their patterns more clearly as well as create more powerful images and writing.
Kleiss holds on-going classes and private consultations in Carmel, California. Many of the classes are held at the Henry Miller Library in Big Sur, California (approximately 35 miles south of Carmel) with its beautiful lawn under the towering redwoods. The Library can be reserved for groups. The class is open to both fiction and nonfiction writers of any level or age.
